Accounting Software Essay

Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains is a mid-market business accounting software package that can run on a Microsoft SQL Server database. There are many companies that use different types of accounting software but one that I would suggest would be Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains. There are two companies that we work for that use this accounting software and are very impressed by what it can do compared to other accounting applications.

After doing some research on what Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains can do for a company I strongly recommend it to be used. Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains has a lot of features that are great for any company it helps to automate and connect the full range of ERP operations and business intelligence. Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains quickly adds new capabilities using built-in personalization tools that help simplify complex development efforts.

When using old accounting software Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains makes the migration and updates the data easy to do. When using Microsoft Dynamic Great Plains it helps connect people, information and applications through more than 350 Web services and built-in interoperability with Microsoft Office Communications Server and Microsoft Dynamics CRM. One of the things that Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains does is that it delivers portal-based access to insight across your entire organization.

It saves time and money by enabling people to use Microsoft Office applications, Web browsers and mobile devices to access and analyze ERP information. I. T. Improvements In order for all of the offices to access data throughout the company I would have to suggest having at least two terminal servers that all users would use to connect with each other. By using terminal servers we would have to make sure that we get enough licenses for all of the users that plan on having access to the accounting software and other applications.

If we decide to use terminal servers we would have to setup the remote desktop shortcut to each computer in every office. One thing that we would need to take into consideration is that with having terminal servers we would have to train each employee how to log on and off their session because we would not want them to accidently shut down the server. When logging on to the terminal server users will not have access to the internet they would need to access the internet through their own computers.

Each terminal server will also have antivirus because each user will be accessing their email and we wouldn’t want to have a virus spread throughout the entire company. Another thing that each office would have would be a WatchGuard Firebox installed. This will help from hackers getting access to each network. A WatchGuard Firebox will prevent full internet access it will give us the ability to block sites by selecting content categories or specifying individual sites to block.

Sites can also be white-listed. This will help and make sure that employees are working instead of getting on MySpace, FaceBook or Twitter. Only certain users such as managers and supervisors will be allowed full internet access. With a WatchGuard Firebox we can either give a certain IP address full internet access or setup a username and password that the user would need to enter in order to get full internet access.

The WatchGuard System Manager looks after multiple Fireboxes. Each one is individually accessed using the Firebox System Manager and a separate component is also used to create and deploy your security policies. During the installation, you download the latest Fireware software image (Fireware is essentially the Firebox’s OS) boot the appliance into a safe mode using the keypad on the front and run through a browser-based quick-start wizard, which uploads the image. http://www. pcpro. co. uk/reviews/security-appliances/137439/watchguard-firebox-x550e-core) The system defaults to allow outbound traffic: configuring inbound access rules and creating other security settings involves the Policy Manager, in which you set up different services and proxies, decide how inbound and outbound traffic is handled, and save each one in a different file as a backup.

WebBlocker policies can include up to 40 categories and use different HTTP proxy policies to determine what web access is allowed during specific times. One thing that managers and supervisors need to be aware of is that the subscription of the webblocker needs to be renewed every year if not then everyone will have full internet access. After having a WatchGuard Firebox installed in several other companies it has really helped in stopping viruses and having people get online when they are actually suppose to be working.
