FUTURE WIHT ROBOTS 50 years ago, it could not be possible to think in a future with innovative cell phones, internet, amazing TV set, and some others modern electronic devices that nowadays we can see everywhere. Robots are one of the most interesting inventions of the past century, according to Wikipedia, the first robot put to industrial work was called UNIMATE and it was invented in 1954. Since then, many robots have been invented in order to help people at hardworking work. At present, many factories use many sort of robots.
The future is not written yet and who knows weather humans will develop new advanced generations of humanoid robots with Artificial Intelligence. Basically, future robots can help us to deal at housework and at scientific areas. At home, robots can be as helpful or more than a human being. For, example they can help disabled people at housework, even they can take care of old people. Five years ago a Japanese domestic robot called “wakamaru” was made by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries; his primary functions were to provide companionship to elderly and disabled people.
I think that in the future many disabled people will have a domestic robot which will have specific and detailed functions in order to help them. Another example is that a robot can help housewives at housework. Nowadays, in a large family it is very difficult for housewives to deal with all the family members’ necessities, so a robot can be the perfect solution for this. Also, some robots can be developed to supply our necessities. Early in the morning when we are still sleeping, a small robot can carry us some coffee, even it can add some spices to the coffee.
Nowadays these ideas can sound weird, but in a not away future, they can become real. Of course the science is on of the principal areas which robots can be very helpful. On January 2010 NASA and General Motors revealed “Robonaut 2”, an advanced humanoid robot that will be able to use space tools and work along-side astronauts in similar environments. Maybe in the future robots can be sent to explore planets. The first successful automated robot sent to Mars was “Sojouner”.
It was launched by NASA on December, 1996 and it was the first robot to use a new radical landing technique to roll across the Martian surface. Since then, there have been sent some automated motor vehicles to Mars. “Curiosity” another automated robot is planned to be launched to Mars in 2011. I think the first beings that will visit new planets in the future, will be robots. Another topic of science which robots can be very helpful is medicine. In recent years, electronic tools have been developed to aid surgeons.
Some scientists are planning to develop robots that can make minimally invasive surgery. In the future robotic surgery could be develop in order to provide mobile medical care while keeping trained doctors safe from battle. The most striking fantasies are that in a distance future, robot and humans will be able to live and prosper together, or maybe robots will realize they do not need as that much. For now it is impossible to think in human-robot relation in the future. Nevertheless, with new advances of technology and the currently robots, our future is going to be amazing.
