When I foremost read Heather Rogers’ “The Hidden Life of Garbage“. she wrote good but seemed to lose the point. But as I reread the essay. I came to recognize she was raising awareness through disgust so go forthing the large inquiry for the reader to chew over. I think a batch of the readers of this article would likely profit from some clear cut thoughts and / or solutions stated by the writer in the essay. I believe a batch of readers have become accustomed to “corporate green washing” due to telecasting. wireless. etc and governmental control of much of their lives. Far excessively many American citizens rely upon the authorities to believe for them. When the Environmental Protection Agency reports that a ruinous state of affairs is safe or no longer toxic. global citizens. and specifically Americans. travel blindly on following their words as an infallible authorization.
We no longer believe independently. That is why I believe Ms. Rogers needs to include a solution. As I watched the docudrama. “Gone Tomorrow”. I realized that even the manager of thevideo was slightly guilty of “green washing” because of the far-out soundtrack and 1950’s film cuts. It was non rough plenty to truly hammer the point place. While it emphasized what happens to our refuse after we take it to the kerb. I believe a greater point would hold been to put duty on the consumer and the corporate planned obsolescence. While her indepth survey of landfills slightly tries to raise consciousness. it is our duty. the writers pointed description of landfill process shouts that something is incorrect with our current manner of disposal. but doesn’t even whisper about any thoughts or solutions.
It is true that our natural landscapes Ate inundated with our litter. But it is non our lone dumping “ground”. Oceans. excessively. are going a depository for our crud.
