Cloning is the method that produce an exactly identical genetic of another one. It has been studied and researched for more than ten years with vegetables and animals. The first success with living thing was a sheep named Dolly and that was one of the experiments that show how far human can get to the high stage of scientific technologies. Since then, the idea of human cloning was conceived. Some people think that human cloning should be permitted because it can brings great benefits to mankind.
Still, some people think that human cloning should be banned since it is like a double-edged sword which can cause danger to personality, dignity and society. Look from every angle, human cloning should be accepted as legal for a better future of mankind. It has been argued that human cloning is unethical and would be deleterious to human race. People know that the technology is unsafe. As we can see from the study of Dolly [a female sheep remarkable in being the first mammal to be cloned], it shows that there are many embryos and new born die before it was successfully cloned. Also, Dolly had a very short life.
If human clones survived, they are not guaranteed that they would develop normally or not suffer from premature ageing as a result of their elderly genes. To a certain extent they are right. However, human cloning may bring such a great benefit to mankind. We could find better way of treatments, and perhaps cures for many diseases that so many of us suffer and die from each year like AIDS. There are millions of people die from this illness and the way of treatment for this illness has not been found yet. But with cloning, we could copy and produce more white blood cells to defend and kill the virus.
This would save millions of innocent lives. Moreover, with the cloning, we would have organs for people who suffer from illness for examples, people who get infected from cancer. These mean that clones would be the best organ donors since the clone is an exactly copy of each person. Thus, there will not have any trouble about the body accepting the organ. In addition, human cloning would be good news for infertile couples since it allow them to have their own biologically related children. Still, those who disagree with this idea may say that human cloning is against many religions.
They claimed that human cloning is not merely an intervention of the body’s natural processes, but the creation of a new and wholly unnatural process of asexual reproduction. For example, Holy Bible mentions that the power that God gives human is over animals. Adam and Eve have all the power, except they cannot eat the fruits of what is good and what is bad. If they do so, they will die. So, people who disagree with this idea believe that human cloning is out of the God’s permission and there is no evidence that proves humans have the right to change God’s will.
Also, for Muslim, they believe that God is the creator, not human. Hence, human have no right to interfere with God’s plan. However, there is no biblical statement on the morals of human cloning. Who is to say that it is not God’s will that we clone ourselves? We know how to clone, so this would probably be another God’s will too. Furthermore, supporters of this idea claim that human cloning may result in the uncontrolled and unbalanced environment. They give the reason that cloning may produce more social side effects from the way that people want to have children who are more intelligent, heavier and extraordinary.
And this could also lead to racism since people would think about the better characteristics. But what is the “Bette one” e. g. black and white complexion. Which one is better? Who would judge this? Besides, cloning people may be use for illegal research or war and criminal. For examples, a novel “The Boys from Brazil” written by Ira Levin. The story is about cloning Adolf Hitler in the body of 13 years old boy with the hope of creating a new leader for the Nazi movement. So if human cloning is legal and this kind of evidence comes true, it would suddenly turn the whole world into a nightmare.
They have a point in thinking like that, but it is not always true that cloning will create the uncontrolled or unbalanced situation. For the racism, nowadays, people are more open-minded than in the past. Black people are way more accepted and treated with respect. The best example for this would be “Barack Obama” the first African-American president of the U. S. A. This evidence shows that the society has been changed. People seem to choose and support someone from his inner qualities not from the outer appearances or being brain-washed like in the past. About the awareness of human cloning that might be used in illegal way.
Psychologists have shown that it is impossible to create another Hitler or another celebrity or whomever that use cloning method. Since cloning is the method that produce an exactly identical genetic of another one. This is not mean that every respect have to be identical. The human clone will has different preferences, characteristics, personalities or talents from the real one. The things that are being tell in many science fictions or movies are just only makeup stories. Still, no academic person has proved that cloning would rebirth such a famous person like Hitler.
In conclusion, the approval for human cloning is another one progress which is very useful for mankind in the future. In the past, people banned and gets scared of new invention that they were not used to but when they passed through that time, nothing bad had happened like what they though. Therefore, we must not scare of the future or about the things we do not even know that it might happen or not Maybe, we must sacrifice or lose something before we meet with success. So human cloning is another new invention that mankind should open their mind for this significant scientific progress.
