Interesting Incident Essay

Irrational use of water resources – Water is the most important element of any creature’s life. A person can survive weeks without any food, but none can survive 3 days without any water. People waste water in their homes without even realizing it. We have become so accustomed to have a 24 hour supply of water to meet all of our needs from cooking, to cleaning, to drinking, that we sometimes forget that we do not have an infinite supply of water.

Everyday water is wasted through leaky taps, flushing toilets, inefficient washing machines and dishwashers, and needlessly letting water flow directly to the drain while showering or brushing our teeth. Being water wise around the home means preventing waste. Having a bath uses more water than a shower, rinsing your hands doesn’t require a constant stream of water. We should check for leaks in taps, pipes, and dishwasher hoses which can cause over 2,000 liters of water per month to be wasted.

Repairing any leaks will save you a ton of money and you will also be saving the environment. Check for any leaks Closing the tap carefully is a wise thing to do. Sometimes due to carelessness we leave the tap running even after our work there is done. If a running tap drops one drop of water each second, you’ll have wasted 4 liters of water during your sleep. You can use a water meter to check for water leaks. Many people keep the water running while they are brushing their teeth or washing dishes which is not at all a necessity.

Please turn the tap off after you have wetted your toothbrush. Saving in the bathroom – 40% of all the water used in a household is being flushed down the toilet. No one needs all that water for that purpose. Using low flush tanks can solve this wastage. You reduce the tank space by putting a bottle full of water or stones in it. This will reduce water wastage in some extend. For example, if you live in a family of three and you put a half liter bottle inside the flush tank, you will be saving 270 liters of water every month.

And please, don’t use your toilet as an ashtray or dustbin. Using bath-tubs wastes a lot of water. Taking a shower consumes much less water. And honestly, I don’t think taking a shower of one hour is a “need”. Saving in the Kitchen In the kitchen always use full loads in your dishwasher. Or if you don’t have a dishwasher, fill a basin with water and rinse the soapy dishes from it instead of washing up under a running tap. This water can later be used to flower your plants. And also always make sure that your washing machine is full before you switch it on.

As far as possible do not use the pre-wash setting on your washing machine and this will help you save 15 liters per cycle. The aim of this post: 1. Making people conscious. 2. Showing people some ways to stop wasting water in their homes. 3. Inspiring people to respect the natural elements. Making your home water wise is a quick step you can take to reduce water wastage, save money, and feel great about helping the environment. You can certainly prevent water pollution in your home. You may even get a rebate for being green.
