In order to be a leader you need to be able to influence others to do better or to be a greater person. According to John Quincy Adams, he said, “If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader. ” What he is saying here is that if you are doing something good that inspires or motivates others to do the same or better then you are considered a leader. I consider myself a leader, I make sure that all of my close peers succeed in everything, I inspire them to work harder, and be the best that they can be.
If I am reaching my goal then the people who are close to me should be doing the same. A leader needs to have confidence because it would help them share their opinions and ideas which can lead to a greater sense of triumph. A leader needs to be able to have character, it shows how good you are in a difficult situation. For example, not so long ago one of my friends was very upset due to the fact that her grades weren’t so good considering that she was in an honors class. I made her see that she could do better by just paying attention and doing everything that was told by the teacher.
About two or three times a week she would come to my house and we would go over what she needed to improve on. It wasn’t necessary for me to help her but i made the decision of making myself progress in life as well as the people around me. In addition, when I was smaller I used to dream of being this great person who would rule the world but then as I got older I let the world make me see the reality of doing the impossible. Now I don’t hold back on what I want to accomplish, I need to believe in the impossible and dream big. If one is able to accomplish this then I will consider that person a leader.
Of course I’m not going to be a perfect leader I still have a long way to go, but i’m trying to make the best out of the opportunities given. For example, I love reading, I love everything from American history to romance novels. I take every little thing that I think will help me later in life. I like learning new things not obligatory but voluntary. If I do something wrong I will always find a way of preventing it from happening it again, either by thinking things out or finding an alternative. As you can see, a leader is always a person who is major influence on the people, just have to make sure you are being a good one.
