Miami is my playground, my home, my family. I believe everyone has a special place, where they can relax, enjoy themselves, and every time they’re there they can still take pleasure in its beauty and discover new wonderful things about it. Miami is my special place. Miami is the place to be: its one big melting pot where people from different cultures can live and learn together. When one sees Miami, it’s like taking a journey where something can be discovered around every corner – new art pieces in a museum, an exotic dish from halfway around the world or even a couple performing a Salsa dance.
To me Miami and adventure are synonymous; they’re both exciting and unusual experiences. I can go to the swimming at the beach basically every weekend because of the constant sunshine. Nothing compares to the aroma of the salty ocean or the way your feet feel when you sink your toes into the warm soft golden sand. Miami means I can visit the only Everglades in the world. It’s a rare and beautiful place that is home to thousands of animals, and it’s truly a unique sight that one should at least experience once in their lifetime.
Living in Miami means that there is never a dull day because I can always go to a Dolphins or Heat game, see a new performance at the Adrienne Arsht Center, or walk around the Design District. It seems that the necessities in life are in Miami. With almost 4,919,036 people living in Miami, it comes as no surprise that there are so many cultures cohabitating here. Miami is full of diversity and I love that about this city. I’ve met people from all over Europe, Asia, Latin America and Africa. In Miami one is able to learn about other religions, countries and cultures because so many different people live here.
The Cuban men who sit and play dominoes in the park, the ladies who always wear chancletas, and the men who sale avocados, mangos and peanuts on Calle Ocho every day of the week. Those people are my family since we live in Miami sharing a common culture, and creating new stories. Every special place has its history: stories from the past of the people who’ve made their contributions all over this city and stories in the making that will create the future. Miami is my home and there’s no place like home.
