Almadhi September, 03, 2010 Regis OCICU – MSM 631 Abstract This paper will discuss how AT&T could shape their MVVP (mission, value, vision & principle), interface it into their daily market battle and generalize these concepts into their management strategy. It will also address how they reached their level of success through following their values and expressing their mission according to their vision and setting up those items as a frontage principle in front of the public and the competitors. To maintain our leadership in this arena, we focused on the future and aggressively pursue innovation” (AT&T IP, 2010). This paper expresses how AT&T can modify and set their products as a standard for the competition, and details the reasons that keep them involved in “social service,” and what makes them win society’s satisfaction and many rewards in the end. Mission, vision, value and principle of AT&T Inc. AT&T is one of the biggest wireless cell phone providers in the U. S. , and it remains one of the biggest providers of information/data transfer solutions.
Unlike other companies, AT&T follows long-term strategic goals by keeping the highest and the best information/data service up to date. AT&T has a bigger return on equity turnover than Verizon, while Verizon has a bigger assets ratio than AT&T’s. According to AT&T’s social responsibility report (2006), “Since 1885, we have dedicated ourselves to satisfying customers, enriching stockholders and meeting the needs of society. ” AT&T’s Mission and Vision The company’s goals consist of bringing the latest technology of data transporting to ensure their customer satisfaction. Besides serving its ustomers in this manner, AT&T also has a long-term vision of providing more advanced services to keep the daily business market more flexible, moveable, and easy to deal with (n. d. , AT&T mission and vision statement, Para 6). AT&T is one of the few companies that has the ability to shape the market (AT&T IP, 2010). AT&T’s 2006 social responsibility report noted that they used to improve their performance by improving indirect things, such as work environment, community environment, and health care and safety, which the company thought would ensure lower costs in the long-term.
They also pledged to accept diversity as one of their principles (AT&T ERG Mixer July 31, 2009). AT&T is a for-profit organization. Nevertheless, it also has to ensure that the public’s info/data is protected from fraud or scams. The company has also implemented a service for Spanish language speakers. At the same time, the company has contributed to many organizations to enrich and support many communities (2006, AT&TSRR). AT&T also mentioned in their report that they implement environmental care policy, which aims to decrease gas consumption. AT&T Values and Principles Through our dedication to these corporate values, we have gained and retained the public’s trust and confidence for more than a century” (2006, AT&TSRR). AT&T is always trying to express its values through engaging the community by support society projects, and because of these matters, AT&T has created and developed a number of policies that would most likely support similar situations. The company mentioned in its report that it has earned many awards for “society building. ” The results have been significant. For instance, in 2006, they were chosen as one of the most diverse workplace and best places to work.
AT&T always honored the principle of time value for very a long time, keeping this “rich heritage” as they wrote in their report, and that obviously would result in maintaining strong relationships with their customers, stockholders, suppliers and employee bases. In addition, AT&T has many values and principles of giving many services to its communities whether inside or outside of its organization. They have led their organization through many leadership ethics by a few steps. First, they set the standards for service and lead the market’s demands to it.
Then, they followed up the work not as duties but as challenges, in other words, they worked with passion. Finally, they invest in extra-long-term assets like networking, targeting new goals, and strengthening the company’s bases (2006, AT&TSRR). Conclusion At the end, many organizations are encountering huge problems because they don’t realize the matter of “social conscience”. In other words, when AT&T developed a new way of contributing to society, they already embraced community service and recognized the great long-term dividends it would pay and that may earn AT&T.
