Purpose: The intent of this lab is to understand the stages of mitosis through a custodies on experience and non merely textbook information. The aim is to visually find each stage through a microscope with a clear apprehension of what is go oning. Materials: The stuffs needed are ; 1 ) Microscope 2 ) A slide containing works cells 3 ) Blank paper 4 ) A half of a Petri dish to pull circles 5 ) A pen.

2 ) Get a slide from your instructor.

Analysis: The six stages of mitosis are interphase. prophase. metaphase. anaphase. telophase and cytokinesis. Interphase consists of three sub-phases ; G1. S-phase and G2. During interphase DNA has been replicated but hasn’t really formed chromosomes. They remain as slackly coiled chromatin. The nucleole and the atomic membrane are still seeable.
Prophase is where both the nucleole and the atomic membrane have disintegrated and the chromatins have been coiled to bring forth seeable chromosomes. The spindle setup had migrated to opposite poles of the cell.
During metaphase the spindle fibres attach themselves to the centromers of the chromosome and they align every bit at what is known as the metaphase home base.
Anaphase is where the spindle fibres are in fact shortening which causes the kinetochore to divide. This consequences in the separation of sister chromatids which are pulled along behind the kinetochores.
In telophase the chromosomes reach the poles of their several spindles. As the chromosomes uncoil the atomic envelope and the nucleole are seeable. The spindle fibres disintegrate. Cytokinesis is the last phase of mitosis where the girl cells are being disconnected apart. Decision: In decision I learned in deepness all the phases of mitosis. I besides learned the forming of a cell home base in works cells.
