My Favorite Place: Las Vegas In the past summer vacation, my friend and I planned a trip to visit the densely populated city in Nevada, Las Vegas. We decided to visit there because both of us desired to have an enjoyable holiday and wonderful memories before the summer vacation is finished. Two weeks before the trip, we already prepared everything such as booked airline tickets, reserved the hotel that we stayed and found out some researched about the restaurants, entertainment, shopping and activities in Las Vegas. We realized that the weather in Las Vegas is much hotter than San Francisco; however, we decided to ake pleasure under the bright sunshine. It took the plane not much time to finish its flight between San Francisco and Las Vegas, just about an hour and a half. I choose Las Vegas as my favorite place just because of the dazzling street which makes me to forget all about going home. We arrived McCarran International Airport at 7:30 on the morning. When I got off the plane, I saw gambling already around us and I recognized I entered a gambling world. After I left the airport terminal, I felt the heating power was flowing inside my body; therefore, I took off my jacket immediately and let my skin absorbed the sun hining directly. The first thing we needed to do after we left the airport terminal was rented a car and drove around to take a look at the city. The weather was much hotter than I expected; nevertheless, I still enjoyed the bright sunshine because that was the Chu 2 exactly weather I expected to see on July. The beautiful blue sky with no clouds made me to stop the step to look up the sky and to listen the sound of the cicada. Even though my friend and I sweated, we were still exciting about our trip. Las Vegas contains lots of best places to visit such as shopping centers, Hoover
Dam and Downtown. The first place we went was Las Vegas Factory Outlet Center because I wanted to look for some souvenirs for my family and friends. The outlet Center offers a variety of popular bands at affordable prices. The home decoration, shoes, clothes or sports… most the stuffs that I wanted to buy I could find them in the Outlet Center. After we had some shopping, we also took a break and had something to eat in the food court. The second place was Hoover Dam, which is named one of the Top 10 Construction Achievements of the 20 Century. It only took me to drive a short 30 inutes from Las Vegas to Hoover Dam. When I drove out to Hoover Dam, I saw the scenery was amazing. Diving into Hoover Dam area, we had to pass through a security checkpoint. The day we visited Hoover Dam was so crowded and it was very hard to find a parking; for that reason, I parked at the parking lot where locates on the Nevada side of the dam, but it cost me 7 bucks that was expensive for me. We took lots of pictures of the dam and my friend also bought a postcard from a souvenir store; the postcard was very interesting because it made by aluminum.
Even though the amount of the traffic made me unsatisfied, I think this is a worth trip. At night, we went back to Las Vegas Downtown because the major attractions in Las Vegas are the casinos and hotels and they are all in the Downtown. We entered into the Downtown, I saw the street was disorderly crowded and the scene was dazzling. I could not keep walking because I Chu 3 had to stop to take some pictures. The hotels and the casinos turned on their lights to make the street became sparkling. A large number of people came out and enjoyed their nightlife.
I believe that hanging out with friends, joining club activities, having dinner and drinking alcohol are the activities people love to do at night in Las Vegas. I found pleasure in it as well. The last day of our trip, we went to “BODIES… The Exhibition. ” This is an amazing creation! It was an educational opportunity brought me face to face to look at real full bodies and organs in showcases and it provided a detailed. Each room shows a different system such as the muscular system, circulatory system, skeletal, reproductive and nervous systems of the body.
Some of the bodies are standing in poses holding a football, baseball, discus, and basketball. Some of the display cases also show diseased organs next to healthy ones. These showcases helped me to understand more what a real smoker’s lung looks like. I saw a huge garbage bin beside for asking people to quit smoking and threw cigarette inside the garbage bin. I saw so many cigarettes there, so I believe lots of people already gave up smoking. This museum gave me an amazing journey into the human body. Now I understand that it is really important to learn from inside the class to outside the class.
