My mom being a single parent and raising three children was a hard task for her but she handled it pretty well. She always had time for everything she worked an awful lot but always managed to be there for all our school events.

I played volleyball and my brothers played baseball and she never missed a game. Mom always made us laugh because she was a bit on the crazy side. She was always cool you know how some people say my parents are old fashion. My mom was In the groove believe me. Mom was also always easy to talk to she had that special patience not to over react. We told her everything and we still do but now since she a bit older she over reacts sometimes. Mom is a great human being she has many other traits other than being a full time mother.

She is a really good dancer and has a really good eye for fashion. I always admired the way my mom went about things she was always happy I never seen her cry. I guess she Is a pretty reserved person. She would always tell us why lose time in being sad if life was meant to be enjoyed. She is a very positive person and also a determined fighter. Mom will never give up if she falls down she will get up all over again with the same grace like it was her first time do it. When I was about fourteen my dad some how popped Into my life.

For me It was too late for him to even show up. I thought way now I didn’t need a dad my mom did pretty good job being both. I had a pretty hard time accepting my dad and if that was hard accepting my stepmother was even worse. My dad called my mom and asks her if I could visit him in Puerco Rich. Of course mom asked me if I wanted to go I hesitated but after a while I gave in. I was pretty insecure because I was going to visit someone that was never there In my life. That missed every single birthday, Christmas and all the events I had ever experienced.

What did he expect for me to forgive him and forget how Irresponsible he had been. After all the hassle, I went for to weeks to meet a person that was my dad (sarcastic remark) supposedly. When I arrived to Puerco Rich I had to look around because I had the slightest idea what he looked liked. Thank god that he came up to me and said I’m your dad. Of course I asked a few questions Just to make sure. Then I was introduced to my stepmother and she was k I guess. Two weeks past really fast and my dad was pretty cool I met a lot of my family that I had no Idea that they existed.

My dad tried pretty hard to win me over but, believe me I was no easy cookie. So meeting my dad was an adventure which I slightly enjoyed. After that, every summer I would come to see him. I thank god that I was given the opportunity to meet my dad because now he is my best friend. We get along really well we also have lots of things in common. My mother is pretty easy to talk to but, she a little over protective so I keep on the down low with a few things. Everything I can’t tell mom I’ll tell dad. Sometimes there’s a bit of Jealousy I am grateful to be able to have such great parents.

I appreciate there honesty, understanding, friendship and most of all their patience. They are my mentors my mom for being such a struggler and being so determined and my dad for being so consistent and involved. The greatest thing about both of them is that they were able to realize that making mistakes is part of life but, mending them is their choice to make a difference. They truly made a difference in my life. I learned from mom that the only obstacle in our life is limiting our own path. I learned from dad that life is about consistency. So I thank them for always being there for me.
