My role model would have to be my dad. I chose him because we are a lot alike and have very similar personalities and work ethics. You see my daddy grew up in a poor family, headed by his dad most of the time. My granny—my dad’s mother didn’t have a college education, I don’t even know if she graduated high school to be quite honest, so she usually stayed home to be a house wife . So as you can guess being from a poor family my dad didn’t get the chance to go to college on his father expense but he went college, through work sponsorship .
He began working at the age of 10 with my grandfather in a meat shop. My dad saved all the money he made and bought his first car at the age of 18, regardless it was a very nice car, it was a fast car, but yet it ran and that was good enough for my dad at the age of 18. When my dad graduated high school at the age of 18 he began working for a company in the airport and he married my mother when he was 29 and she was 24, five years later they had my sister and my other sister, not long before they had me. My dad decided he wanted to be an engineer.
My dad has built his own house by his bare hands and about anything else you can think of—he’s very talented. The point of this story is my dad came from nothing basically and now he’s a very wealthy and successful engineer in my country. He done well providing for his wife and three children and he did have a college education. But what got my dad to where he is today was not from being lazy by no means but working hard and driving himself to become something better than what he was and to achieve his dreams.
I want my son in the future to look at me like I look at my dad. I work hard in school; I have that very same drive that drove my dad to success. Like my dad as well I have big dreams. I want to become a pilot, that’s going to take a lot of hard work and more drive than what I am already putting in. But I know what I want in life and I am going after it full force, head strong!
