The Problem of National Integration | | | National integration means the unity of the nation. It has been rightly said “United we stand but divided we fall”. A nation which is not united falls like a house of cards. India is a country where persons of different castes, colors and creeds live together. Narrow considerations like communalism, regionalism, casteism and linguism seem to rule the country. National integration, therefore, has become the most urgent need of the hour. There are various factors responsible for disintegration in India.
Occasional communal riots still take place in different parts of the country. These riots cause great loss to the progress and economy of the nation. Regionalism is another threat to the national integration. The demand for Khalistan is an example of such regionalism. The states fight among themselves over areas, over distribution of river water and over territory. People vote on the basis of caste and not on basis of merit. Linguism is another threat to national integration. The need of the day is to keep communal harmony in India. Political parties can play an important role.
They must teach people that they are Indians first and then anything else. They should be more disciplined. They should sacrifice their personal interests in the interest of their country. Educational institutions must infuse the spirit of national integration among the students. Newspaper, television, cinema and radio can also play a useful role in developing the feeling of oneness among the people. We have to create a national awakening among the people of our country. The government should make all efforts to meet the situation strictly.
Those who are found involved in anti-national and anti-social activities should be dealt with a heavy hand. We should try our best to maintain communal harmony in our society and unite India into one nation. NATIONAL INTEGRATION India is a country of rich cultural heritage with different colours, religions, languages, castes and way of life. But there is always unity in diversity. We have fought unitedly against the British rule under the Leadership of Mahatma Gandhi. Our spirit of unity got us Independence. The same spirit is needed for the continuous growth and welfare of the Nation.
Only when there is peace, we can develop into a great Nation. So National Integration is essential forever. Integrity of a nation is vital for its security and prosperity. India comprises people belonging to different beliefs, races, religions and languages. Unless a cultural integration among these different sections of people takes place, unless every Indian considers himself an Indian first, the integration of India is incomplete. The separatist tendencies prevalent in different parts of the Country are a real threat to the unity of the Country.
These separatist tendencies should be nipped in the bud. Some people have also raised their voice demanding separate nations like the issues of Kashmiris. Because of these conflicts, valuable human life and national properties are lost. We cannot settle out disputes and problems by killing innocent people. So we should be cautious about these seeds of disintegration. We should try to sort out our differences through democratic means. Unless we are able to instill a sense of brotherhood in the minds of people of different regions and religions, national integration will only be a dream.
Communal clashes have become a regular feature. Even if some thing happened in a far distant place, it echoes resound in inland and lead to communal clashes. We know we have to live together and, if need be, die together. But we fight on silly reasons and make mountains out of mole holes. National languages, border adjustments, river waters, caste feeling, political philosophies anything can become the theme of contest and confrontation. One of the burning issues leading to disintegration is regional politics. We are all aware of what is happening in Mumbai, Nashik and Pune to North Indians.
In today’s India its nearly impossible for any single state to survive on its own. It is grapes and onions of Maharshtra which are sold everywhere else in country. It is rice, vegetables and wheat of UP which is sold everywhere in country. No one can sustain alone. It is interdependency of all states which give products of one state a big market in other states, without excise and customs. Today, Biggest threat to India are anti nationals We cant let these stupid and narrow minded politicians crush on this grand cause of nation building.
Our young generation has to stand up and voice their opinion. A silent majority is of no use. When good people stop performing their duty then only bad people get their things done. Wake up Indians, wake up and decide the destiny of this grand nation. May god direct our intellect in right direction. The strength of Indian culture lies in our unity in diversity. The popular story of Lion and Four Oxes tell us the importance of Unity. So let us live as a Nation. “United We Stand; Divided We Fall”. Vande Mataram Jai Hind
