RURAL AND URBAN Imagine that all people live in villages or they all live in cities. How would the life be if people lived the same lifestyle? A proverb in Yemen says,” Being rural is the best color of lifestyle. ’’ In which is meant living in villages is better than living in cities. Well, there is no doubt that life in villages is so beautiful, and very interesting indeed, but at the same there are people who prefer to live in metropolitan cities and this is due to their lust of living in a modernized lifestyle.

In this assay there will be clarification for the similarities and the differences between urban and rural from the major sides. There are similarities and differences between rural and urban, but there are far differences than similarities and this is due to the location and the people who live there. Most people in Yemen live in cities due to the modern development in cities. The comparison between urban and rural could be in rights, and education; however, the contrast between them might be in health, and daily life. There are similarities in rights between rural and urban.

First, as the government asserted in 1990, urban people are able to participate to elect the president of the country; similarly, rural people are able to participate in the electing, too due to the fact that they live in one country. A case in point is that both rural and urban people participated in the last electing of the president. In addition, people in rural areas did not possess the education rights in the past like urban people, but now it has changed inasmuch as the order from the government to equal the rights in education between rural and urban people.

Moreover, rural people are able to travel anywhere inside the country similar to urban people in that due to the fact it is important to develop the trading activity inside the country. There are three major areas of contrast in daily life between rural and urban people. The most important area is the work. Actually, in urban areas people work several hours while rural people work less hours due to the fact urban people work easy jobs; in contrast, rural people work hard jobs like cultivation.

The next idea is sleeping. Statistics in Yemen proved that rural people sleep early and wake up early. Whereas, urban people sleep late and wake up late due to the fact they work until late hours in the evening. Another point is the technology. In urban areas people usually use technology everywhere they go while rural people do not usually us technology. The most famous technology that rural people use is radio. There are some differences in education between rural and urban areas.

First, as al- Jaufi(the minister of education in Yemen) claims, there are many universities in urban areas; in contrast, there are only one or two universities in rural areas due to the fact there are not much educated people that they are going to finish studying to study in universities. In addition, in urban areas the schools are prepared properly by new technologies; in contrast, schools in rural areas are old-fashioned that is why students in rural areas are not educated properly.

Moreover, teachers in urban schools are qualified properly for teaching; in contrast, teachers in rural areas are not educated enough to teach in schools that is why students in rural areas are not successful in studying. There are several differences in health between rural and urban areas. The most important is the hospitals. As the minister of health asserts, there are many hospitals in urban areas which are prepared by new technologies. In contrast, there are only few hospitals in rural areas which are old-fashioned and contain poor technologies.

The next idea is the body health. People in rural areas are healthier than urban people due to the fact the fresh air in rural areas and the astounding environment. Another point is first aid kit. Urban people often go to a clinic when they want a first aid kit, in contrast, rural people use leaves as a remedy for the basic health situations. In conclusion, it is known that there are people who live in villages, and there are people who live in cities. All that depends on where people tend to live.

Actually, some people contend that it is not important whether they live in villages or in cities, it is only important whether they are a life or not, but it is better for the people to live in the place where they think it is suitable for them or for their jobs. It was clear in this assay that the differences between rural and urban are far more obvious in health, education, location, environment, and daily life. Although living in villages is so wonderful and amazing, some people are from cities.

As the proverb says,” There is no place like home. ” In other words, people tend to live in the place that they are originated from.
