Same-Sex marriage some say that marriage Is a sacred thing. Some think It’s only words. Marriage is between a man and a woman. Why change the laws? What could possibly be the point? If one law is changed then people are going to try to argue more and more laws, and those will change to. Pretty soon there will be no laws. “The public meaning of marriage is not something that each new generation is free to redefine. “(Stanton, 3) Same-sex marriage should be prohibited. Marriage Is meant for reproduction. How can you reproduce If you’re the same sex?
There are laws on same-sex marriage. It has such a negative effect on children. It also affects society in so many different ways. In addition to all that, there are several physical and mental health risks if one is a homosexual. States vary in the laws that they chose to have or not to have. In the majority of states: Alabama, Arizona, Colorado, Delaware, Florida, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Maine, Minnesota, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, and West Virginia (human rights campaign). Conservative religious groups condemned the 2003 U. S. Supreme court decision as immoral, and by early in the twenty-first century, 37 states and the federal government had passed a “Defense of Marriage Act”, which defined marriage as between “a man and a woman,” and barred recognition of same- sex marriage from other states (Thomas, 43). Only one state allows same-sex marriage. And there Is a reason for that! Not Just anyone can get married. “You cannot marry if you’re already married, you cannot marry a close relative, an adult Anton marry a child, you cannot marry your pet, and you cannot marry someone of the same sex” (Stanton, 3).
No human society has ever let the same sex marry. There are several things you have to consider when you let a same-sex couple get married, are they going to have children? What are they going to do with their future? And what effect does It have on children. Children of same-sex marriage are so confused. They are forced into a situation that they have absolutely no control over, they have no choice over. They just can’t do anything about it. The children of same-sex marriage have to go to school eventually. Everyone knows how mean kids can be.
Some children get picked on, ridiculed, tortured, and sometimes to an extreme they get beaten. It can be so rough on children In school, that’s the most vital time of someone’s life. They get shaped In that stage. The teachers could also cause problems for the children as well. Maybe their views on the issue are somewhat different. They could alter the students’ grades because of that, or even pick on the student as well. People just make life not fun for students. You would think that if someone wanted to be a really good parent, hey would think about that child’s future and realize that their life won’t be happy.
Why would a good parent want their child to have a miserable Life? According to the gay couples. Many kids are being raised by a gay parent, regardless of whether they are a couple or not, and that is an estimate of around several million still in the U. S. Another estimate from the census is about families and having children. About one in every three female couples has children. And only one in every five male couples has children. And out of all of those, only 5% are adopted, the rest are natural born. Natural born by a previous marriage, surrogate mother, and artificial insemination.
So many studies have proved that children need a mother and a father figure in their lives. They need the female role and the father role in their life (Stanton, 3). How could a little girl grow up without a father, what would she look for when she got married? Or the same for a boy, growing up without a mother or father figure. Things just don’t equal out to what they should. Some think that the meaning of the words “Mother” and “Father” would diminish. They would be left to be only words. How does same-sex marriage affect society?
It affects people in so many ways. People begin to think, well if these rules are bent, and then more will be bent. If two men or two women can marry, why can’t three or four marry? The rules all begin to be bent. Homosexuality goes against the norms; we have been socialized into believing that it’s wrong. Homosexuality is like smoking, people know it’s a health issue and its bad for you but yet, they still do it. Same-sex marriage is wrong, yet people still do it. There are also several health issues due to homosexuality. In an AIDS diagnosis in
Canada, 60% of positive HIVE tests were found in homosexual men, and Just over 15% of HIVE tests were due to heterosexual contact (She, 3). The reason for that is thought to be condoms. Homosexual men Just aren’t using them because the primary use for condoms is to prevent pregnancy. But they also protect against from Stud’s, and homosexuals can’t get their partner pregnant so they don’t see the use in them. There are also mental health issues due to Homosexuality. According to She, many studies show much higher rates of psychiatric illness, such as depression, suicide attempts, and drug abuse.
The result of this is thought to be ‘homophobia’. The stress drives these people to these unhealthy levels. Same-sex marriage should not be allowed in our society today. The rules cannot keep being bent for a particular group. People will become out of control. The laws were made for a reason, not to be broken or bent or changed in any way. It has a horribly negative effect on children in our society today. Schools make it very difficult for children as well as other kids. Homosexuals should not be allowed to adopt because the effect it has on children. It affects all of society in more ways than one.
