The Importance of Electricity Essay

What is Electricity? Electricity is one of the most powerful forces in our lives. As a matter of fact, it can even kill you. The most vital part of electricity is called electric energy. This is what we commonly think of when we hear the word electricity. “Electricity” reminds us of anything that we plug into an electrical outlet in order to make it work, such as lights, refrigerators, video games, microwaves, and computers. Scientists discovered ways to produce electric energy in large amounts in order to make heat, light and motion.

These discoveries have improved our lives greatly and for many of us it would be difficult to picture what life would be like without electricity. What Are Some of the Problems With Electricity and Fossil Fuels? One of the most common ways to produce electricity is through the burning of fossil fuels. Fossil fuels include coal, oil, and natural gas. When fossil fuels are burned, they release carbon dioxide into the atmosphere which leads to acid rain and global warming. These are big problems for our environment. Another concern is that we will eventually run out of fossil fuels.

Fossil fuels are non-renewable sources of energy because it takes millions of years to create them. That’s why it’s so important that we start to develop better ways to use renewable sources of energy such as wind and water power to create electric energy. How Does Electricity Work? Everything in the world, including air, humans, water, etc. is made up of atoms, or tiny invisible particles. Protons and neutrons join together to form the nucleus or center of the atom. Electrons, which are even smaller, spin around the nucleus of the atom. When electrons move from one atom to another, they form electricity.

All right, but how do these protons and neutrons help make my computer work at home? In today’s world, huge generators at power plants make electricity by using coal, natural gas, uranium, water, or wind. Electric current travels through transformers which push the power a long distance through transmission lines that run across countries. The current often goes through a substation and then travels on smaller power lines or along underground cables through your neighborhood. A service drop is a pole that connects the power line to your house.

The current runs through a meter that adds up how much electricity your family uses. Then the electricity goes into a service panel in your basement or garage. Finally, the electrical current moves through the wires in the wall of your house to all of the outlets and switches in your house. Now you know why your computer will work when you turn it on. Why Do We Need to Conserve Electricity? Every year, many industrialized countries around the world use more energy than they did the year before. Some experts say that the total amount of energy Americans use doubles every twenty years.

One of the biggest problems is that a lot of this energy is wasted. There are many reasons why we need to conserve, or use less, electricity. First of all, if we conserve electricity, we save money because electricity costs money. If you conserve electricity every single day, you can save lots and lots of money over time. You can spend this money on other things that you need and want. Another reason why we need to conserve electricity is because conserving electricity means that we are using less of the earth’s non-renewable resources. Non-renewable resources are gone forever once we use them up.

Examples are oil, natural gas, uranium, and coal which are used to create electricity. Therefore, wasting electricity is not good for the environment. Yet another reason that we need to conserve energy is to make up for some of the energy that is wasted due to the fact that a lot of people do not do enough reducing, reusing, and recycling of their garbage. Companies use electricity to produce lots of unnecessary items since many consumers do not use and reuse things as much as they should. Making these products wastes a lot of energy and electricity.

Finally, we need to conserve electricity today in order to help future generations. Energy will be an even bigger problem in the future than it is today. So if kids start learning to use less electricity and to use it wisely today, they will be helping themselves in the future. Energy in the form of electricity is used in building to operate equipment for the safety, efficiency and comfort of its occupants and users. Such equipment includes emergency systems, air-conditioning, lighting, transportation, office systems and other appliances. Oxford word power dictionary for Malaysian student penerbit Fajar Bakti sdn bhd Electricity- type of energy that we use to make heat , light & power to work machine . Electcity usually generated in power station and battery. The important of electricity Easier – Electricity is a form of energy produced by the movement of electrons. Electricity is electrical power or an electric current. This form of energy can be sent through wires in a flow of tiny particles. It is used to produce light and heat and to run motors. Harder – Electricity is a basic feature of all matter, of everything in the universe.

Electrical force holds atoms and molecules together. Electricity determines the structure of every object that exists. Together with magnetism, it causes a force called electromagnetism, a fundamental force of the universe. Electricity or electrical signals are essential to many biological processes. In our bodies, electrical signals are carried through the nervous system, moving information to and from the brain. Electrical signals communicate to our brain what the eyes see, what the ears hear, and what the fingers feel.

Electrical signals from our brain causes our muscle movements. Electrical signals cause each heartbeat. One of the most important forms of electricity is in electrical current. During the industrial revolution of the 1800s, people began to find ways to use electricity to do work. Today electricity is used throughout our homes, at work, in communication, in transportation, and in medicine and science. Electrically powered devices are prevalent. Relatively cheap electricity has made electrical appliances, machines, and other devices possible.

Why is Electricity Important? Everything in our world is powered by electricity, it is the most common source of power and it convenient. Things move faster with electricity. Electricity is important because it is used in everday life. You use electricity for light, heat, medical necessities, such as ventilators, respirators, etc and many other things. We would be lost without electricity. |Why Power & Electricity World Africa? | | |Because the entire energy value chain faces critical business, investment and technology issues. | |Africa’s governments are seeking to attract investment | | |Energy regulators need to frame regulation | | |Energy stakeholders need technology, investment and regulation for clean energy | | |Investors are looking for viable energy projects | | |Municipalities are looking for solutions to ensure strategic customer management | | |Industry needs insight to reduce carbon emissions | | |Industry in Africa needs reliable energy supplies | | |Water utilities are looking to the future in clean technology | | |Oil companies are looking to reduced emissions | | The Importance of Electricity Electricity is important to the world. Fans, light bulbs, televisions, ovens, air-conditioners…

All of these cannot function without electricity. So, as you can see, electricity is very important to the world. But before I can tell you about electricity, you must what is it. And you must know about energy, and the (famous) inventor who invented the light bulb. Then, electricity. Finally… electricity’s advantages & disadvantages. ENERGY- Conductors and insulators. Energy is found everywhere (and I really mean everywhere). Well, you can’t see energy, but it is around. Reading this article uses energy, too. Well, I won’t be talking about contracting and expanding and all that stuff (find it in another article). I will be talking about conductors and insulators. Ok.

First, conductors of electricity mean that it attracts electricity. Insulators are exactly the opposite. Metal is a good conductor of electricity while plastic is an insulator. Thomas A. Edison Invention of the lightbulb Now, electricity is… Whoops, actually, step 2 is: Who invented the lightbulb. There are many inventors in the world. Benjamin Franklin invented the lightning conductor. The Wright brothers invented the aeroplane. No, no, no. I am NOT concentrating on them. Thomas Alva Edison is a very famous inventor. He invented the lightbulb, and yes, that is the one I am looking for. The lightbulb consists of the filament, which is for the bulb to light up.

Correct, if the filament is taken away, then the bulb would not light up. Now you know about electricity, you’re going to learn how electricity is made. Number two… Oh, yes! The advantages and disadvantages of electricity. How is electricity made? Ha ha, I hear you say. Electricity can’t be made. Well, almost correct. No, 0 percent correct. Huh? Then how is electricity made? I’m sure you’re asking that. You’ll learn right now. Electricity is a half-natural half-man-made thing. You might not know, but electricity is made from crude oil. That’s the main ‘ingredient’. Ha ha. Wrong again. That’s the only ingredient. OK, I must give myself 10%/100%. Why?

Well, it is simply because you don’t cook electricity! Well, you want to know the answer? You BURN crude oil! Did you think of that? Advantages and Disadvantages I’m sure you know the advantages of electricity. They help many things to function. As I have mentioned earlier, Fans, light bulbs, televisions, ovens, air-conditioners and many other things cannot function without electricity. But I don’t think you know much about the disadvantages of electricity. As you know, electricity is made by burning crude oil. But crude oil is a limited resource. This means that it may run out in the future. If we don’t use electricity wisely, there might not be any electricity in the future.

Another disadvantage is that because it is made by burning crude oil, it causes pollution to the environment, also at the same time increasing the speed of global. Now after this article, I guess you wanted to save electricity and use it wisely. Well, you should, and prevent global warming in the future! Electricity About 1 billion consumers around the world depend on nuclear electricity for some of their power needs. Electricity is an important commodity, and as the world’s population grows, the need for electricity will grow. World consumption of electricity is actually expected to double over the next 30 years! Electricity is used in industry, commerce, public transport and of course, in homes.

Although many countries around the world are using nuclear energy to generate electricity, there are still about 2 billion people living in under-developed countries who have no electricity ELECTRICITY has become necessary in the modern world for good reasons. It travels at high speed providing light, warmth, refrigeration, air conditioning and power for running important things like modern homes, businesses, schools, hospitals and communication networks that keep us connected and informed. Many things that were once only ideas are now absolute necessities in our life, especially during emergencies; therefore every country is in dire need of building adequate electrical facilities in order to provide answers to the needs of the people in a modern and more mobile future run on electricity.
